GCode Simulator recognizes the movements and print speeds and can simulate the print in realtime, but you can also speed-up the prints (fast forward). Each layer is painted in a different colour to see how a layer overlaps with the layer below. In addition to the top level view it also renders a front and side view of the object. GCodeSimulator let you to check how your print should turn out, making it easier to spot errors and fix them instead of wasting filament. If the print object looks ok you can directly send it over Wifi to GCodePrintr (Android) to print it. Host Software BOLTS - a open standard parts library for open source CAD applications jreinhardt Fri Nov 08 12:42:50 UTC 2013 The aim of BOLTS (acronym for: BOLTS is a Open Library for Technical Specifications) is to build a free and open-source standard parts library for CAD applications. It does so by providing a common database that can be utilized by different CAD applications. Currently supports [OpenSCAD]( and [FreeCAD]( There is also a [development blog]( Modelling Software kokopelli garyhodgson Mon Sep 09 07:46:00 UTC 2013 "kokopelli is an open-source tool for computer-aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM). It uses Python as a hardware description language for solid models. A set of core libraries define common shapes and transforms, but users are free to extend their designs with their own definitions." GCode Modelling Software 3DPrintMi garyhodgson Thu Jul 04 21:06:40 UTC 2013 "3DPrintMi combines the minimalistic, open frame style of the Printrbot/Wallace with the fixed Y Gantry system of the Mendel. The printed parts are designed to be produced rapidly, efficiently and assembled easily. A primary goal for this printer was to incorporate the maximum number of printed parts, thus enabling self replication. Built from the ground up, this RepRap requires very little tooling and does not need specially made parts (e.g. lasercut pieces) for it to function." Printer RepRap Simpson garyhodgson Thu Jul 04 21:04:26 UTC 2013 "Simpson is a experimental grounded delta robot 3D printer prototype." Printer RepRap Morgan garyhodgson Thu Jul 04 21:02:02 UTC 2013 SCARA based RepRap design. Winner of the interim Gada Uplift prize. Printer Induction Heating Extruder garyhodgson Thu Jun 13 21:22:43 UTC 2013 "All RepRap extruders to date have a similar underlying construction, built around a resistively heated metal melt chamber with an external temperature sensor. UBC Rapid is pursuing a different approach, using induction heating to melt plastic inside a glass nozzle. Although design is more difficult, this approach is expected to offer improved performance, and once designed, may be easier to manufacture." HotEnd IceSL garyhodgson Tue May 28 16:54:26 UTC 2013 "IceSL is a modeler and slicer, all in the same software. Think of it as OpenSCAD meets Skeinforge. By directly slicing the models IceSL avoids the expensive mesh CSG computation that most other softwares have to perform. In addition, IceSL relies on recent GPU algorithms to speed up visualization as well as the slicing process. On-screen preview is accurate and slicing is fast. Beware that we have super-high GPU requirements, and that IceSL is highly experimental software." Modelling Software Toolchain Focus SLS printer garyhodgson Sat May 11 18:45:54 UTC 2013 "Focus is a DIY, open source powder printer. It is currently fitted with a laser for SLS, but it can easily be adapted for 3DP binder printing. It costs around €600 to build as is. This is with 1,5W 808nm laser, driver, all electronics and parts." Printer CADQuery garyhodgson Wed Apr 24 08:03:19 UTC 2013 "CadQuery is an intuitive, easy-to-use python based language for building parametric 3D CAD models. CadQuery is for 3D CAD what jQuery is for javascript. Imagine selecting Faces of a 3d object the same way you select DOM objects with JQuery!" Modelling Software garyhodgson Mon Mar 18 19:23:39 UTC 2013 " is a more up-to-date OpenJsCAD frontend where you can edit .jscad files either locally or online via JS editor (built-in). A few functions are available to make the transition from OpenSCAD to OpenJSCAD easier (OpenSCAD.jscad built-in), as well CLI (command-line interface) for server-side computations with NodeJS." Modelling Software Parametric Parts garyhodgson Fri Mar 08 18:58:29 UTC 2013 An online 3D modelling service premised on creating parametric parts. Modelling Software
